Free · reads your real sitemap · no signupyourdomain.com/llms.txt.llms.txt is a plain-text Markdown file that sits at the root of a website, at /llms.txt, and gives large language models and AI assistants a short, curated map of the site: what it is, and which pages are worth reading first. The format was proposed at llmstxt.org. It starts with a single H1 title, usually followed by a one-sentence blockquote summary, then H2 sections that hold lists of links written as - [Page title](https://example.com/page): short note. A section named Optional marks pages an assistant can skip when it needs a shorter context.
This llms.txt generator reads your real robots.txt and XML sitemap, picks a balanced sample of pages across your site, loads each page to read its title and meta description, drops anything that is broken or set to noindex, and groups the rest into sections such as Docs, Blog, Products or Company. With AI switched on, the summary, section names and one-line notes are written for you, but the AI is only allowed to use URLs that were actually found, so it cannot invent pages. Without AI, a rule-based version is built from the same real data.
The llms.txt checker loads /llms.txt from your domain, or checks text you paste in, and validates it against the format: a real text file rather than an HTML error page, a single H1 at the top, a summary, clear sections, correctly formatted links, absolute URLs, file size and encoding. It then tests the linked URLs so you can find broken or redirected links before an AI tool does, and reports whether an optional llms-full.txt exists.
Be realistic about the benefits. llms.txt is a community proposal, and the large AI providers have not confirmed that they use it for ranking or citations. Publishing one costs very little and gives you a tidy summary of your most important content that people and tools can read, so many sites treat it as a low-effort extra. Real AI visibility still depends on crawlable pages, clear answers, trustworthy content and allowing the right crawlers in robots.txt.
It is a Markdown text file published at the root of your site (yourdomain.com/llms.txt). It summarizes the site and lists its most important pages so AI assistants can understand it quickly.
There is no confirmed evidence that major AI systems use it to rank or cite sites. It is a proposed convention. It is low effort to publish and helps organize your key content, but it is not a ranking factor you can rely on.
Upload it to the root of your domain so it loads at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt, served as plain text or markdown in UTF-8.
llms.txt is a short curated index with links. llms-full.txt is an optional companion that holds the full text of key documentation in one file. You only need it if you want to publish that full text.
It reads your sitemap (or homepage links if there is no sitemap), removes junk URLs such as tag pages, carts and logins, samples pages across your site sections, checks that each page loads and is not noindex, then lists them with their real titles and descriptions.
No page can be invented. The AI may only choose from URLs that were found on your site, and anything it leaves out is kept under an Optional section. Always read the summary and notes before publishing.
File exists, content type, size, UTF-8, H1 title, summary blockquote, H2 sections, link format, absolute URLs, duplicates, and whether the linked pages load or redirect.
The tool fetches public pages to build or check the file. Finished files are not saved on the server. Only use public sites.
