This tool speaks the actual WHOIS protocol directly: it asks IANA's root server which registry is authoritative for the domain's TLD, queries that registry, and follows through to the sponsoring registrar's own WHOIS server when one is listed — the same lookup chain a registrar's own tools perform. From the response it extracts the registrar, creation and expiry dates, domain age, name servers, DNSSEC status, and transfer-lock state, then flags what actually matters: domains expiring soon, missing transfer locks, disabled DNSSEC, and single points of failure in your name server setup.
