Run Free Website AuditUTM parameters are short tags added to the end of a link so your analytics tool knows exactly where a visit came from. utm_source says which site or platform sent the visitor, utm_medium says what kind of channel it was (email, social, cpc), and utm_campaign names the specific campaign. utm_content and utm_term tell apart different links or keywords within one campaign, and utm_id lets GA4 match your visits to imported ad-cost data.
The tags are simple, but small inconsistencies quietly damage the data. UTM values are case-sensitive, so
"Facebook" and "facebook" show up as two separate sources. A medium that GA4 doesn't recognise lands in
"Unassigned" instead of the channel you intended. Spaces and special characters turn into unreadable
%20 sequences, and a link that already carries old UTMs can end up tagged twice. This builder
prevents those problems as you work: it normalises your values, keeps existing parameters and your
#fragment intact, encodes everything safely, predicts the GA4 channel and scores the result.
Use the bulk builder to tag a whole campaign at once from a spreadsheet, and the analyzer to audit links already out in the wild. A good naming convention, lower-case and underscore-separated, kept in one shared document, matters more than any tool.
